One out of every four ketchup bottles in the world comes from China
China is one of the main suppliers of tomato sauce raw materials in the world, with approximately 1 out of every 4 bottles of tomato sauce using ingredients from China. A European journalist visited various cities in Europe, including London in the United Kingdom, Berlin in Germany, Brussels in Belgium, Warsaw in Poland, Madrid in Spain, and Stockholm in Sweden, and conducted interactive Q&A sessions about Chinese tomatoes in restaurants, supermarkets, and farmers' markets.
Europeans have a great love for tomatoes, and many dishes are complemented with tomato sauce. One Polish lady even expressed her love for tomatoes by wanting to change a Polish song called "Goodbye, Tomato" to "Hello, Tomato." The abundant sunlight, fertile soil, and temperature differences between day and night in Northwestern China provide an ideal growing environment for tomatoes. The tomatoes produced here are fresh, juicy, and flavorful, and they also have good storage and transportation capabilities, making them highly favored by overseas customers. In recent years, with the development of China-Europe connectivity facilitated by certain initiatives, an increasing number of high-quality Chinese tomatoes have entered the European market. Did you know that approximately 1 out of every 4 bottles of tomato sauce globally uses raw materials from China? When asked this question, a British young man responded without hesitation, "I know, many imported food products come from China." Most of the other respondents also expressed no surprise, with one British participant adding, "Almost all items around me are labeled as 'Made in China.'"
September marks the harvest season for Chinese tomatoes. Many regions employ mechanized harvesting, with a tomato harvester capable of harvesting tomatoes on 60 acres per day. The harvested tomatoes are sent to processing plants, where they undergo processes such as cleaning, peeling, cutting, concentrating, and sterilization. They are then processed into high-quality tomato sauce and packaged in a sterile manner. Through transportation methods such as China-Europe freight trains, these tomato products are shipped to various European countries.
